Peace In the Midst of Chaos

Peace In the Midst of Chaos

Satan / The Enemy / Insert Your Favorite Name For The Ultimate Loser Here is so pathetic in his attempts to cause chaos and fear.

A personal example: it has now been almost 2 full weeks since I found myself abruptly out of a job. Yet, instead of slipping into depression, anxiety or fear, I’m laughing in the face of the enemy. Then, I took my car in for an oil change yesterday, only to find out it needs roughly $1200 in critical repairs – it’s being worked on as I type this. In the past, the timing of this event would’ve probably caused me to have a complete meltdown. But you know what? Again I find myself laughing at the enemy. I have an indescribable sense of peace about the entire situation because I have finally come to the important revelation that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit really are all you need.

During the last weekend of January, Holy Spirit gave me a section of scripture He wanted me to share with someone. It resonated deeply with that individual – it was precisely what they needed to hear at that moment. I’m learning more and more that we really do hear God better than we think we can, and when we actually tune in, He will guide us through our lives every step of the way, and use us to guide and encourage others as well. God didn’t stop talking to us once the Bible was finished being written – He still talks to us constantly. We simply need to learn to listen. The verses that I communicated to that individual are copied and pasted below:

Matthew 6:25-34 – Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

The amazing thing is that when I delivered those verses, God was telling me they were for me as well. Looking back, I can now see that He was preparing me for what was about to happen in my life and reminding me to turn to Him for all things. I know without a doubt that meditating on those verses and pressing into Him in prayer is the entire reason that I am walking without fear through this season of my life.

The most important thing is that God wants me to tell everyone that you can have this type of peace and confidence too. I am not rare or unique in this situation – what He has given to me is something He can give to you as well, and He really wants to do so. Contrary to what any individual or church may have told you in the past, God is not angry with you. He loves you very much, and He’s in a really good mood. He stands waiting with open arms for you to run to Him. If you’ve never done so before, now is the time. He is calling people home to Him like never before. Jesus Christ shed His precious blood for you on the cross – He did this to pay for ALL of your sins. Yes…all…past, present and future. If you accept what Christ has done for you, you can lay all your sins at the foot of the cross. Contrary again to what you may have heard in the past, you can confess a sin once and leave it at the cross – you don’t need to beat yourself up constantly and re-visit old sins. All sin was paid for in full in that one amazingly selfless act by your Savior. Confess, repent, and then walk away from it as a righteous heir to the Kingdom – then you can experience a life of true freedom in Christ. And it’s a life that can be filled with a true sense of peace that surpasses all understanding.

Okay…preaching mode off. Was feeling led to say all that. If it helps even one person, it was absolutely worth it.

Until next time, take care and God Bless!
